Looser having an enjoyable year

IF there is one athlete who is having a good year, it is without a doubt; it is road cycle and mountain biker female rider Vera Looser, who lives in Switzerland and continues to fly the Namibian flag high. Looser has no reason to stop smiling, as she has been nominated in two Namibia Annual Sports Awards (NASA) categories, Sportswoman of the Year and Sports Star of the Year. The NASA award ceremony will be held on October 28 in Swakopmund. Looser, the country’s mountain biking queen, has had a solid year after losing out on a podium spot at the Commonwealth Games last year, finishing fourth in the women’s cycling road event.

Looser (30) told Confidente this week that she will compete in the Israel Epic Mountain Bike Challenge next month.

“This has been my most successful year in cycling and the most enjoyable one. Winning the ABSA Cape Epic in March was undoubtedly a highlight of the year. Winning the marathon World Cup in mid-September in France was a huge result for me, especially on a course that I thought would not suit me,” Looser said.
