Miss plus size Namibia: celebrating beauty beyond size

The Miss Plus Size Namibia competition is not just a beauty pageant but a radiant celebration of body positivity, healthy lifestyles, and unshakeable self-confidence.
The pageant aims to challenge and upend conventional beauty standards as it is a platform that celebrates the diversity and individuality of every contestant, encouraging society to embrace and celebrate all body types.
It’s a movement that inspires, challenges stereotypes, and champions body positivity.
The competition typically involves various rounds such as swimwear, evening gown, and talent segments, where contestants can display their unique qualities and skills.
Founder and director of Miss Plus Size, Margaret Shivolo, expressed the importance of embracing all body types and spreading body positivity.
“Imagine the stage set for an extraordinary spectacle, where curves are celebrated, and confidence reigns supreme.
“Contestants, each a beacon of beauty, talent, and intelligence, take to the stage to redefine what it means to be beautiful.
“We are looking forward to choosing a queen fit for the crown. Through their participation, they are showing every girl and woman that she is beautiful and worth celebrating, regardless of her size,” Shivolo stated.
Shivolo said the idea of the pageant was inspired by her roots, as an African, where a majority of women are plus size, who, due to mainstream media and the rules governing beauty standards, have never had the opportunity to be acknowledged in the entertainment industry and society.
The application forms, include a submission form, platform statement, pageant resume, a photo, and an entry fee until August 31st, 2024.
“The winners will walk away with modelling contracts and cash prizes ranging from N$3,500 to a stunning N$15,000. Sponsors, whose names will be revealed during the highly anticipated media launch, are equally thrilled to support such a transformative event,” she added.
