More police stations, border posts and staff housing needed – parliamentary committee

MARX ITAMALO
The Zambezi, the Kavango regions, and Ohangwena lack adequate police stations.
This is part of the findings made by the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Security, Defence and International Relations. The committee is touring the border posts across Namibia, examining the security apparatus’s operations, facilities, and security personnel’s well–being.
The committee’s Daniel Kashikola told the media and other stakeholders at Eenhana town that there are no police stations, police holding cells bursting at the seams, dilapidated structures, a few border posts, and an appalling lack of proper accommodation for border security personnel.
Kashikola said the Zambezi, the Kavango regions, and Ohangwena lack adequate police stations, which has led to people travelling long distances to access essential services.
