Murorua, from medic to assistant rugby coach at Leipzig

As an assistant coach at German rugby outfit Leipzig, Denver Murorua has a fascinating story to tell after becoming an assistant coach at German Rugby Club Leipzig in the Germany Bundesliga Rugby League this season. Murorua is the first Namibian coach in the German Rugby Bundesliga, having previously worked as a medic at the University of Namibia (UNAM) Rugby Club in the Namibia Rugby Premier League (NRPL).
“I am currently coaching at Leipzig. I joined the team in March 2024 and I am enjoying life here in Germany so far. I worked with UNAM Rugby in a slightly different role as to what I am doing at the moment.
I worked as a medic at UNAM for the last two years, However, I also assisted with coaching during the 2023 NRPL campaign as well, “said Murorua. The 31-year-old was born and raised in Windhoek and is currently residing in Halle (Saale) in the eastern part of Germany, where the club is based.
