My 57-goals record will stand the test of time: Vliete

BEAUTIES FC goal-scoring machine Fiola ‘Haaland’ Vliete, who became the first player to score 57 league goals in a season in both the female and male domestic leagues, believes her record will stand the test of time.

Vliete scored 57 league goals in the recently concluded FNB Women Super League (WSL), capping off the season with a brace against Okahandja FC in a 5–1 victory.

Before the match against Okahandja, Vliete was level on 55 league goals with Tura Magic’s Anna-Marie Shikusho, who scored the 55 league goals a few seasons ago.

Vliete made history with her two goals, becoming the women’s game’s all-time leading scorer.

Vliete, who began her career as a goalkeeper and was a Brave Gladiators backup goalkeeper a few years ago, told Confidente that she believes her record goal tally will stand for a long time and that only she can break it.
