N$2m allocated for Usakos sport facility facelift
■ By Michael Uugwanga
THE Usakos town council has announced that it will soon begin upgrading its long-forgotten old athletic field, thanks to a financial allocation of N$2 million from the Sports Ministry.
The need for sports facilities in Usakos is impeding the development of sports in the community.
The Usakos sports facility also includes damaged tennis, basketball, volleyball, and netball courts, all of which need to be used due to their poor state.
The Usakos sports facility, which is located on the grounds of the Usakos Junior Secondary School, is owned by the Education Ministry.
However, it was believed that the facility would be handed over to the Sports Ministry, while the Town Council of Usakos was given the authority to maintain it. The sports complex is located on the left side of the B2, the main road between Swakopmund and Walvis Bay.
