N$590k for four bosses at August 26 entity in 90 days

THE new chairperson of the August 26 Logistics board of directors and three members earned a combined N$590 000 in 9 0m days from eight meet- ings. The board sat on June 5, June 8, June 10, June 24, July 11, August 3, 19, and 30.

August 26 Logistics belongs to the NDF’s August 26 Holdings (51 per cent), the South African businessman Sarel Oberholzer (25 per cent) and the late Mathew Shikongo (24 per cent). Documents name the beneficiaries as the board chairperson, Kelvin Thembikozi, the South African business and shareholder, Oberholzer; NDF chief of staff Retoveni Muhenje, the businesswoman Johanna Shi- kongo, and Alpha Nekomba, the secretary of the board. Johanna Shikongo sits on the board to represent the Shikongo family’s estate fol- lowing her father’s death about two years ago. According to the documents, Thembiko- zi, Oberholzer, Shikongo and Muhenje each pocketed N$122 500 in both sitting and re- tainer fees, while Nekomba earned N$100 000. The board chairperson, Thembikozi, said that meeting on an extraordinary basis as the board is not peculiar because any dras- tic situation warrants concomitant inter- vention from any leadership. According to Thembikozi, the cost is in- evitable as it is part of the process.
