• By Martha Nangombe

Building on an agreement signed last year at COP27, the European Union (EU) and the Namibia Investment Promotion and Development Board (NIPDB) will co-host a Business Forum (ENBF) in Brussels, Belgium on October 24-25.

The EU and Namibia have a strategic partnership agreement on sustainable raw materials and renewable hydrogen.

This highly anticipated two-day forum, will be hosted under the theme “Mobilising quality investment and value addition for green growth in the EU-Namibia partnership.

Focusing on Green Hydrogen and Sustainable Critical Raw Materials (CRM) value chains, the Forum aims to foster dialogue, collaboration, and strengthen partnership between EU and Namibian government, businesses, and organisations.

President Hage Geingob is expected to be part of the inauguration ceremony, as well as other significant governmental and business sector officials.

The meeting will then shift to inclusive green growth, crucial raw materials (CRM), and green hydrogen (GH2).

Sessions on the Clean Hydrogen Derivatives Value Chain and solutions for managing financial risks in GH2 are also on the schedule.

The second day will focus on CRM policies, technical improvements, and potential for company expansion, with high-level speakers and talks on Research and Development (R&D), capacity building, joint ventures, and Namibia’s objectives as a green logistics hub.
