THE nation’s senior men’s futsal team has been busy preparing for its inaugural Futsal Africa Cup of Nations (FAFCON), which will occur in Morocco from April 11 to April 21 and include eight nations competing for the top prize.

Namibia’s adventure against Mauritania on April 12 will mark the start of its inaugural appearance at the continental showcase. After eliminating Tanzania in a two-leg tie, Namibia advanced.

Only three teams have won the Futsal AFCON trophy: Egypt has won three, Morocco is the current champion, and Libya has won one. Namibia is in group B alongside Egypt, Libya and fellow debutants Mauritania. Group B comprises Morocco, Angola, Ghana and Zambia.

About Futsal Futsal is a football-based game primarily played indoors on a hard court, similar to a basketball court but smaller than a football pitch.
