Namibian Newspaper Cup dreams of Brave Warriors call-up

• By Michael Uugwanga

THE Nedbank Namibian Newspaper Cup has created another future star in Oshikoto Region striker Omar Arend, who led the tournament with four goals in four matches.

The tournament was held in Gobabis over the Easter weekend, and after his easter exploits, Arend is dreaming of featuring for the Brave Warriors. “My dream is to play for the Brave Warriors, but that requires hard work and dedication,” he said.

Despite Oshikoto Region finishing fourth in the competition after losing 1-0 in the semi-finals to eventual winners Omusati and losing third place to host Omaheke 5-3 on penalties, Arend was clinical in front of goal.

Arend, a cousin of Blue Waters FC defender Abubakir Arend, who was once called up to the Brave Warriors training camp, is already on his way to greater heights and might even be called up later this year.
