NCS players not released for international duty

MTC/Namibian 2023 Netball Premier League (NNPL) champions Namibia Correctional Service (NCS) players will not be part of the Desert Jewels setup for the upcoming Africa Netball Cup (Championship) in Botswana, as they are undergoing Namibia Correctional Service training.
Players such as Martha Ndeshi Shaambe, who was voted the best mid-court player, goal-attacker Elisia Hambongo, Imbileni Frans, Tjeripo Kambirongo (goal defence) and goalkeeper Mulenamaswe Mwale, were all expected to be part of the national team, until NCS management decided otherwise, a move that has forced the Desert Jewel technical team to look at other players.
In last week’s edition, Confidente published a story headlined: Netball Championship vital-Meyer, where Desert Jewel’s coach Julene Meyers made no secret of the importance of NCS player involvement in the upcoming Championship in Botswana.

“It is not surprising to see most NCS players in the squad, even if the final team has yet to be formally confirmed,” Meyer remarked.
However, before departing for Turkey this week, Meyer stated that, despite not receiving a single player from the league champions, the technical team has moved on, and the existing pool of players called up for trials is adequate.
