No Crocodiles sold yet- Muyunda

• By Allexer Namundjembo

The environment ministry’s spokesperson has confirmed that the sale of crocodiles, announced last year, did not occur. This comes after Environment Minister Pohamba Shifeta announced that the ministry would sell 40 crocodiles due to increased human attacks.

Shifeta last year said that the ministry had decided to sell 40 crocodiles, considering the increase in the number of crocodiles and the negative impacts it is having on humans. The ministry’s spokesperson said the sale had not yet occurred, but they hope it will start.

Last year, the ministry indicated that it would capture 40 crocodiles in the Okavango and Zambezi rivers. They said the decision was taken after considering the drastically increasing number of crocodiles and human attacks in the two regions.
