NSFAF to offer half a billion in student loans

…as 23 000 students scramble for NSFAF pie

NAMIBIA Students Financial Assistance Fund (NSFAF) will be spending N$546.8 million to fund the new crop of tertiary students that applied for funding for this financial year, Confidente can exclusively reveal.

Of the 23 000 students that applied for funding, 17 232 received positive feedback while the remaining 5 768 students were left in the dark as they could not qualify for the NSFAF funding.

Speaking to Confidente this week, acting CEO Kennedy Kandume added that it must be noted that the allocation to NSFAF increased by N$200 million during this financial year, making it better when it comes to prioritising.

“This is an important step in ensuring that the fund provides financial assistance to needy students, to enable them to study at various institutions of higher Learning. We are really thankful to both the line ministry, the Ministry of Higher Education, Technology and Innovation and as well as to the Ministry of Finance in this regard.
