… Keeping ancient culture alive

OTANAHA village in the eastern farming area of Oshikoto region was a hive of farming activity on May 29 when hordes of farmers and cattle enthusiasts descended on the village to witness an ancient activity taking place.
It all started with a phone call from my good friend Matheus wa Nahambo two days prior.

“Itamalo, there will be cattle show at my uncle’s farm at Otanaha in the bushes of Oshikoto on Saturday.

Would you like to join us? Free transport and accommodation is available,” he said.

I registered my interest in joining the party and the next day, we found ourselves hitting the road in two 4X4 pick-ups heading for Otanaha. The area is very sandy and only accessible by 4X4 vehicles.
