Omuthiya job seekers database key to employment creation

THE Omuthiya Town Council is set to provide temporary jobs to its residents through the newly created Council’s Job Seekers Registration Database Programme.

Omuthiya Town Council Public Relations Officer Ottilie Shingenge said the database Programme was established by Local Authority Act No.23 of 1992, as amended, which authorises local governments to create databases for job seekers from which temporary recruitments will be sourced when necessary.

“With a high rate of unemployment in the country, this programme is committed to providing temporary jobs to the residents of Omuthiya town,” she said.

Shingenge pointed out that the first group of workers was hired and began working on March 4. “We are devoted to keeping our town clean, and by temporarily hiring our inhabitants, the council will realise its goal of a clean town,” Shingenge said.
