THE Ondangwa town council’s fire brigade is on the firing line after a businessman from the northern town accused it of sheer negligence that resulted in losses amounting to N$2,5 million.

Narrating the tale of woe to Confidente this week, Ondangwa-based recycling businessman and owner of Wilco Recycling, Willem Coetzee said that on November 24 last year, between 13h00 and 14h00 one of his employees was alerted by a person living nearby the recycling yard on the outskirts of Ondangwa, that the premises was on fire.

The employee in turn notified Coetzee, who called the Ondangwa fire brigade and rushed to the site. According to him, the fire engine arrived at the scene after an hour and started extinguishing the inferno until around 18h00.
