Oniipa council in wages tussle

THE Oniipa town council is being accused of non-payment after a group of contracted labourers say they were not paid their wages as promised.
The group told Confidente they were asked to clean and remove grass from council premises, the Oniipa graveyard and at the controversial sewage dam at Onamulunga. They were divided into four groups comprising eight individuals for every site. According to them, they would work for nine days starting on June 22 until July 2. Part of the agreement was that they would receive their wages on the last day of work. That did not happen.
