According to Oniipa councillor Tulipohamba Nuunyango, the drive through roadshow was aimed at sensitising the inhabitants of the towns about the Covid-19 pandemic and creating awareness about the virus amongst the region’s residents especially in the densely populated towns of Tsumeb, Omuthiya and Oshikoto.
“Oshikoto recorded 2 508 cases and 17 Covid-19 related deaths.

Onandjokwe district hospital which falls in Oniipa constituency recorded 1104 cases with seven Covid-19 related deaths, which is why the Oshikoto regional Covid-19 taskforce deemed it necessary to organise a drive through roadshow in the three towns of Tsumeb, Omuthiya and Oniipa,” he told Confidente last week.
Nuunyango implored residents of the region and Namibians at large to adhere to established guidelines and protocols such as the wearing of face masks, sanitising of hands at public places and gatherings and the maintaining of social distancing.

“It’s imperative for all of us to observe the established guidelines. Covid-19 is real and we must hold hands together to combat it,” he stressed.

The drive through roadshow was held under the theme: ‘Let us unite to end the Covid-19 pandemic’. The Oniipa and Omuthiya town councils, Nampol, Tsumeb municipality, the Ministry of Health and Social Services as well as the education ministry are amongst the many stakeholders who made the roadshow a success.
