Duiker revealed that schools will be accommodated at Rehoboth High School from 25 to 28 July, while the actual football action is scheduled to take place at the Rehoboth Sports Stadium.

The national finals will also showcase the under-15 girls’ teams from Khomas, Erongo, //Kharas and Omaheke regions, who will strut their stuff on 27 July at St Joseph Primary School.

Duiker called on community members from Windhoek, Rehoboth and Mariental to come in their hundreds to support the teams who will travel from as far as the Zambezi region.

Asked about the future of the COPA Cola-Cola tourney, Duiker revealed that they have had confirmation that the competition will run until 2021 and that the under-15 girls’ teams would be included.

“We want the nationals to end on a high note and we expect to have more schools competing in the second edition of the competition, at which talent identification is key.”

Football clubs, including those from the Skorpion Zinc Namibia Football Association (NFA) Women Super League, are likely to benefit from the COPA Coca-Cola competition by enlisting some of these players.

Organisers will select a national team to represent Namibia at the Africa Cup later this year and the organisers are confident the country has the potential to make a mark at the Africa Cup finals.
