OVAKWANYAMA Queen, Martha Mwadinomho Christian ya Nelumbu has described the late Ovakwanyama senior councillor and headman for Omedi tribal district Hadino Hishongwa as a hardworking man who made significant contributions to the development of the Oukwanyama kingdom and the broader Ohangwena region.
The Queen made these remarks last week after the Confidente newspaper approached her about Hishongwa’s position in the governance of the Oukwanyama traditional authority (OTA).
According to Queen Nelumbu, Hishongwa had an important role in the operations of the OTA, where he served as senior traditional councillor for Omhedi district from 2019 until his death at the end of August this year.
Hishongwa died at a private hospital in Ongwediva at the age of 80.
“He was one of our traditional authority’s hardworking senior councillors. He joined the traditional authority when there was too much dissension and infighting, even among our senior councillors. He brought the people together,” she said.
