Over 100 computers lying idle in Tsumkwe schools seven years on

MORE than 100 computers donated to 13 schools in Tsumkwe in the Otjozondjupa region and surrounding areas in 2014 are lying idle and gathering dust because of a technological mishap Confidente can reveal.
According to a source these computers are in tip top condition but just need the correct software to be installed to enable all of them to work properly; and this has not been done since 2014.
Confidente called some principals of affected schools in order to get an insight on why these devices are not functional lying unused for seven years, and they stated that the main reason is that there is lack of technical support to their schools and they have been blocked from using the computers due to lack of certain software.
Besides the software issue, these schools despite having electricity are also facing difficulties with erratic and weak internet connectivity, while in some cases it is none existent.
