Pohamba, !Gawaxab daughters in debt trouble

• By Tracy Tafirenyika

A former Kata Investments accountant has dragged Kaupumhote Pohamba and Taschiona !Gawanab to court demanding payment of N$437 200.

Kaupomhote is former President Hifikepunye Pohamba’s daughter, while Taschion is the Bank of Namibia governor’s daughter.

The two women own Kata Investments and Kata Group as 50-50 shareholders.

According to court papers, the former accountant is Milka Hoxobes, whose property was auctioned after Kaupomhote and Taschiona failed to pay Pennypinchers Timbercity Windhoek N$93,685.59 for building material bought in 2015.

Hoxobes acted on behalf of Kata Investments when the company bought the building materials from Pennypicnhers on 19 March 2015. The company, however, failed to pay.

On 15 June 2017, Pennypinchers approached the court seeking an order to compel Kata Investments and Hoxobes to pay N$93 685.59.

Since Hoxobes had moved out of Windhoek, she did not receive the summons issued against her and Kata Investments.

The court granted Pennypinchers a default judgment on 17 August 2017 against Hoxobes and Kata Investments.
