WITH the country grappling with the high number of drug cases that have been reported recently and still remain unbeatable, the Namibian police in the Khomas region have managed to recover drugs that are worth N$15 million in the past 15 weeks.

Khomas Regional Commander Ismael Basson exclusively told Confidente this week that they have managed to arrest 19 suspects who are from Namibia, Zimbabwe and South Africa. Among the reported cases one of the suspects is a 29-year-old female who was arrested for transporting heroin worth N$1 million at Hosea Kutako International Airport.

Basson stated that crimes that involve drugs are some of the most challenging to handle and the police have been working tirelessly to tackle these cases.

“We have been receiving a lot of these cases and it is very saddening in the Khomas region. It is one of those crimes that are very difficult to solve but we are all working hard in order to tackle these crimes. We have been trying to uncover these crimes by exposing the suspects as well as putting campaigns and roadblocks so that we can adjust the cases.

“I would like to call upon the public to keep us informed whenever there is a case going on. The more we get informed is the more we tackle these cases so we would strongly want to encourage the public to let us know if there are such cases happening in their neighbourhoods for us to work together and solve the problems.
