Public Procurement Act set for revamp

THE Ministry of Finance, Procurement Policy Unit is currently working on the amendments to the Public Procurement Act, 2015 (Act No. 15 of 2015) to improve the effectiveness of the implementation of law and its institutional arrangements.

It is for this reason that a series of public consultation sessions are lined up this month to obtain input from various stakeholders on how to make this piece of legislation that came into effect on  April 1 2017more effective, the ministry’s spokesperson, Tonateni Shidhudhu said this week.

“The amendments were brought out of public consultations where it was realised that certain provisions of the act needs to be amended.

This will include strengthening governance issues around the Central Procurement Board of Namibia (CPBN),” Shidhudhu said.
