RCC boss spends festive season in the dock

ACTING Road Contractor Company (RCC), Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Maria Nakale who also holds an Executive Position at the Retirement Funds Institute of Namibia (RFIN) was arrested on January 2 after she and her farm employees allegedly assaulted Mariental farm workers who they suspected of being in possession of stolen goods from her farm.

Nakale made her first appearance at the Marential Magistrate Court on January 18 where and was released on a N$ 2000 bail.

Nakale was arrested on January 2 on charges of assault and causing serious bodily harm after she mobilised her farm employees and going on to attack employees from a farm in Marential.

Nakale who is not new to controversy was headhunted by RCC board to lead the struggling parastatal on a short-term basis has in the past come under fire from the Namibian Economic Freedom Fighters (NEEF) for allegedly being “greedy and self-centred” by working two jobs and collecting two salaries in a country where  high unemployment is a norm.

The RCC interim CEO has previously been asked to step down amidst concerns that she executed an unfair board decision to cut employee benefits while her salary remained untouched.
