Recklessness will collapse Gobabis finances: Uutoni

The Gobabis municipality increased the salaries of its employees without following basic procedures, such as setting aside a budget to accommodate such a scenario.

This is according to the urban development minister Erastus Uutoni, who also confirmed that although funds were not part of the budget, a ruling in a Labour Court has ordered that employees should be paid as agreed.

Uutoni told Confidente that the municipality has a reputation for nepotism, which affects the institutional capacity.

“They are not united, and managing their resources could be better. They should change the way they manage their resources.
