Residents want Grootfontein officials to pay back the money

GROOTFONTEIN town council is under fire from the residents for allegedly shrouding the council’s deliberations in secrecy, while irregularities are said to be the order of the day at the town.

The residents are claiming that most of the activities that concern them are done secretly by the council without informing the public, and recently they have picked up what appears to be spendthrift tendencies from the side of the council.

Speaking to Confidente this week, a few residents who spoke based on anonymity, stated that the council took eight officials on a trip to Zambezi for an estimated S&T payment of N$100 000 and the public was not informed.
