RFIN to host 13th retirement conference

THE Retirement Fund Institute of Namibia (RFIN) annnounced this week that its 13th Annual Conference under the theme ‘Our Retirement, Our responsibility’ wil take place on 25 and 26 September at Droombos Estate in  Windhoek. The objective of the conference is to provide financial education that will boost the knowledge base and shape the future of the industry and the economy.

The two-day event will discuss, among other topics, the role of the New Equitable Economic Empowerment Framework (NEEEF) in transformation and skills development in the financial services sector; retirement planning; funding real sector developments to grow the economy and create new jobs; responsible investing; retirement funds legislative reform; the impact of the domestic asset requirement; financial sector crisis management, and innovation to develop the capital market.

RFIN Sabrina Jacobs chairperson said: “RFIN is much honoured to play this role with the support of all our esteemed stakeholders. Researched subjects in relation to pension fund savings and the national economy, such as retirement funding, economic climate, stimulation and crisis management, fiscal adjustments process, skill development, job creation opportunities and the impact of domestic asset requirements will be shared at conference.”

She further said: “Delegates that will participate at the conference include members of RFIN, pension fund trustees, principal officers, pension fund service providers, such as administrators, assets managers, benefit consultant, actuaries and auditors, as well as regulator amongst others.”

RFIN is a non-political body that presents and promotes the interest of the retirement industry in Namibia to the ultimate benefit of members of retirement funds. Jacob thanked the Namibia Savings and Investment Association (NaSIA), who were the first to show support for the 13th conference.
