Rugby domestic leagues finally get a sponsor

• By Michael Uugwanga

AFTER nearly 12 years without a sponsor, the Namibia Rugby Premiere League (NRL) finally gets a sponsor from the Namibia Brewery Limited (NBL) as part of NBL’s financial support towards the Namibia Rugby Union (NRU).

NBL committed N$3 million to NRU, of which the funds will be channelled towards domestic leagues, regional 15s, U-20 Barthes Trophy participation, the NRU national hosting budget, the contribution of referees’ courses, and NRU annual and club forum meetings.

The sponsor’s announcement regarding the NRPL was made on Tuesday, April 30, at a press conference held at the NRU head office in Olympia, Windhoek.
