Seidler qualifies for the Olympic games a few months after retiring

THE greatest accomplishment for Namibia isn’t necessarily winning gold, but instead just making it to the Olympics, demonstrating that even athletes with little funding can compete at the highest level in the world, says Phillip Seidler.

Seidler, the country’s best open water marathon swimmer, recently became the first Namibian athlete to qualify for the Olympic Games set for Paris, France, from July 26-August 11.

Seidler made a strong comeback, having announced retirement from the sport last September, having been swamped with commitments.

His 360-degree turn is set to pay off as he is now set to represent the country at yet another Olympics tournament, having represented the country at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan.
