THE Simply You Magazine Lifestyle and Fashion Awards (SYMLFA), which aims to inspire and motivate Namibian creatives by awarding designers and fashion personalities for their roles in the entertainment industry, will take place on 12 September.

This was announced by Simply You Magazine managing director Helena Ngaifiwa via a press statement, which said the fourth edition of the annual awards ceremony will be hosted at the National Theatre of Namibia once again.

Entries are now open and will close on 29 May.

“We are excited to announce our collaboration with NWR to expose our personalities, to promote tourism and the beautiful heritage of our country, as each winner will walk away with an NWR voucher valued at N$5,000 to any NWR resort in Namibia this time around,” she noted.

The fourth edition is also sponsored by Appetizer and Coca Cola Namibia.

“To enjoy every moment, we would like to thank our official soft drink sponsor for their continuous support,” she added.

The first SYMLAFAs took place in 2017 and saw continental celebrities, such as such South Africa’s television personalities Maps Maponyane and Lasizwe Dambuza, as well as Nigerian reality TV star Beverly Osu grace the red carpet and stage.

According to Ngaifiwa, the awards take pride in creating a platform for local and international personalities to network, and in 2018 the second edition of SYMLAFAs was broadcast live on One Africa Television, giving them a platform to reach a wider audience.

“We are thus honoured to announce our collaboration with national broadcaster, NBC Television, since 2019, which took SYMLAFA 2019 to a larger audience of 1.6 million viewers. Over the years SYMLAFA’s stage has embraced artists the likes of Sally Boss Madam, KP Illest, Top Cheri, Fernando the Drumking, Imms Music and many more,” she said.

She added that they also take pride in acknowledging those who made strides in their fields, in the ‘Diamond Award’ category. In 2017, humanitarian and philanthropist Samuel Kapepo won the award, while in 2018 artist and humanitarian Lize Ehlers claimed the accolade.

She said it was also an absolute honour to recognize Dr.
