…six vehicles were stolen in January alone
By MARX ITAMALO
THE police in Oshana have asked vehicle owners to be vigilant as vehicle thefts are on the rise.
Inspector Thomas Aiyambo of Oshana police’s public relations section said the regional police leadership is concerned about the increasing number of car theft cases in the region even though it is only the first month.
He highlighted that he had never had this experience before.
“We’ve already had six vehicle theft cases in the region, and it’s only January. This is quite worrying. Thieves are working around the clock to devise new methods of breaking into and stealing cars,” he said.
As a result, Aiyambo recommended the public to be watchful and cautious when operating vehicles. According to Aiyambo, most vehicles targeted are sedans known locally as ‘Dankie Botswana’, with three stolen in Oshakati, two in Ondangwa, and one in Ongwediva.
