NamPol continues fight against smuggling operations-Nghiyolwa

NAMIBIAN Police (NamPol) Ohangwena region Public Relations and Community Policing officer Sergeant Andreas Nghiyolwa says police continue to conduct patrols to combat fuel and contraband smuggling from neighbouring Angola.

He said this in response to social media posts that indicated NamPol had discontinued such patrols.

Nghiyolwa emphasised that the police in Ohangwena continue to conduct patrols and raids to combat fuel smuggling operations.

“What people should know is that we are still working around the clock to put an end to this nonsense. People should not believe we have ceased operations,” he told Confidente.

According to Nghiyolwa, police officers in Ohangwena are now employing new tactics to conduct searches meant to counter smuggling syndicates’ sophisticated operations.

“Police officers are on the ground conducting arrests and seizure operations,” he stated.

Nghiyolwa also pointed out that the idea that the police have given up stems from the fact the Police Reserve Force that used to patrol the Namibian-Angolan border is no longer there.
