Standard Bank holds Primary School Regional hockey Fest
THE Standard Bank’s Junior Hockey Initiative regional festival for primary schools in Windhoek, took place at Bethold Himumuine Primary School in Katutura a fortnight ago.
A total number of 100 school children from five primary schools within Windhoek took part in the event.
In the girls section the final was contested between Namutoni Primary School and Bethold Himumuine Primary School, which saw Namutoni winning the match courtesy of a solitary goal.
The boys’ final was played between MH Greeff and Namutoni, with MH Greeff defeating Namutoni also by a single goal.
This was the sixth edition of the regional festival to be hosted in Windhoek and a total of 18 matches were played on the day.
While the 7th edition of the festival took place in Gobabis on 19 September, with Nossobville Primary School winning the girls division after beating Ben Van Der Walt Primary School 2-1 in the final.
In the boys division, Ben Van Der Walt Primary School defeated Nossobville Primary School 1-0 in the final.
Five more regional festivals will be held in Okahandja, Omaruru, Ombalantu, Ongwediva and Outjo in the coming days.
All regional winners will play in the national festival slated for 01 October to 02 October 2022, in Windhoek.
