DISGRUNTLED Swapo party Central Committee member, Peya Mushelenga was left egg-faced at a recently held Central Committee (CC) meeting from which the Swapo Party second highest decision body backed party Secretary General (SG), Sophia Nahango Shaningwa.
The said Central Committee meeting was convened with one item on the agenda, ‘to look into the possibility of adding Jerry Maudjuu Ekandjo to the list of those contesting for the party’s Vice-Presidential post but Mushelengo had other ideas.

A Source privy to information on the CC meeting told Confidente that a resolution to leave-out Ekandjo from the VP candidate list was agreed upon at the meeting and in dramatic turn of events, Mushelenga tried to launch another onslaught on SG, Shaningwa.
Confidente understands that Mushelenge, who is also campaign manager for Pohamba Shifeta, party Vice Presidential candidate, insisted his letter, in which he attacked Shaningwa over preparations for the party’s Elective Congress in November, be addressed.
“He was adamant that his misplaced letter be addressed by the Special CC Meeting, wherein, he alleges that Congress preparations are not on track and that Congress Committees are not yet in place.

On this he was seconded by controversial Kharas Regional Coordinator, MATHEW Mumbala who jumped at the chance to attack Shaningwa, the source said.
“The two made unsubstantiated claims and had to be reprimanded and called to order by the party President, Hage Geingob.
The Special CC Meeting was satisfactory told, reminded, and reassured by SG Shaningwa, when she presented a comprehensive report and checklist to the CC Meeting which was chaired by President Hage Geingob, that, elective congress preparations were progressing smoothly, and all Congress Committees had been in place since May 2022, and are ready for their respective tasks.
“Lies have short legs,” Shaningwa is said to have uttered, to which she received a resounding round of applause from CC members and President Geingob, the source who attended the CC said.
