There will be consequences – Ndeitunga

THE Inspector General of the Namibian police force Lieutenant General Sebastian Ndeitunga has said that police officers that will be found assisting inmates and members of the public in smuggling prohibited items and contraband into holding cells will face tough sanctions.

He was speaking at the official handover of a new police filling station and vehicle clearance office as well as new inmates’ holding cells at Ongwediva last Friday.

Ndeitunga said that he is particularly concerned over the persistent smuggling of prohibited items into cells and believes there are some ‘rotten apples’ among the good officers in the force. He stated he is convinced officers are conniving and collaborating with inmates and members of the public to smuggle contraband and other illegal items into the cells.
