By Jeremiah Ndjoze

SPOKESPERSON of the Ovaherero Traditional Authority (OTA), Mutjinde Katjiua has urged the greater Ovaherero community to allow adequate time for the Ovaherero people and the nation at large to mourn the death of late paramount chief Vekuii Rukoro, and to deal with succession issues later. Advocate Rukoro succumbed to Covid-19 complications in the early morning hours of Friday, June 18.

Speaking to the media, Katjiua maintained that the paramount chief position for the Ovaherero community is an elected one, as such no known line of succession exists.

He further revealed that the traditional authority has a transitional arrangement with executive powers in place, which will be announced in due course.
