Tourism industry hostilities in full swing

IN the wake of a recent spat between players within the Namibian tourism sector – which has seen three key players in the industry pronouncing their no confidence in the now controversial Namibia Travel and Tourism Forum (NTTF) – the latter’s founder, Nrupesh Soni has likened the outcry to an act of bitterness due to the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between his formation and government.

Soni further accused the three entities, which are; Federation of Namibian Tourism Associations (FENATA), Namibia Tourism Board (NTB) and the Hospitality Association of Namibia (HAN) of propagating exclusivity within the industry, with FENATA in particular allegedly operating as an elite club for a few industry players. This state of affairs, he said, is part of what led to the formation of NTTF.
