Tug-of-war over new Meat Board

A tussle has erupted over the appointment of a new Meat Board of Namibia (MBN) with the incumbent board having derailed the process after raising ‘industry’ concerns on why the shortlisted members should not be appointed.

Confidente is reliably informed that one year after the positions were advertised, a new board has already been selected but the appointing process was stopped when the current team wrote a letter at the 11th hour prompting agriculture minister, Calle Schlettwein to seek consultations with public enterprises minister, Leon Jooste.
