Unam lecturer honoured by FAO

UNIVERSITY of Namibia multidisciplinary researcher Dr Lydia Horn on Monday received an achievement award for women in plant mutation from International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and the Food and Agricultural Organisation of the United Nations (FAO).

The awards were handed over at the  at the 65th IAEA General Conference, where the side event recognised the contributions to plant mutation breeding from 28 researchers and research teams of institutions from across 20 countries  to honour  them with awards for outstanding achievements.

Awards were presented by the director general of the IAEA, Rafael Mariano Grossi, in Vienna of which Horn was among 10 women in her category ‘Women in Plant Mutation’ that received an award for their significant efforts in the last decade in the development of new mutant varieties using irradiation.
