THE CODIE and Connor van Schalkwyk, two of the country’s promising young tennis players based in the United States of America while studying and playing tennis, are ranked sixth in division one (1) men’s doubles ranking by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association.
The Intercollegiate Tennis Association is the governing body and coaches’ association of United States college tennis, both an advocate and authority, overseeing men’s and women’s varsity tennis at all levels.
The Namibia Tennis Association (NTA) published the news of their ranking a fortnight ago.
This week, the van Schalkwyk brothers, in an interview with Confidente, have said that the ranking came as a result of their hard work, both in training and on the court of play.
The two are currently studying at Old Dominion University, a Division 1 school located on the east coast of Virginia.
Old Dominion University is known for its vital athletic programs, with the two players majoring in Business Management.
Codie said that now that the tennis season has ended, their focus is to study hard while waiting for the new tennis season in January next year.
Codie is a big fan of Spanish tennis superstar Rafael Nadal, a 22 grand slam winner in the singles.
“We are now focusing on our examinations.
The new schedule will start in January next year, and we will keep playing well and try to get even better.
