OUTJO’S Moria Private School students Chané Janse van Vuuren, Sienta-Mari van Rooyen, and Benjamin Mostert were named the top three performers in the Bank Windhoek Feedmaster National Cattle Judging Competition, which took place in Windhoek on September 28.
Van Vuuren, who finished third in 2022, won this year’s top prize, while Van Rooyen held her own to take second place, and Mostert, a first-time participant, finished third.
The trio expressed gratitude for the opportunity to compete in the tournament, which they described as challenging and enjoyable.
The Bank Windhoek Feedmaster National Cattle Judging Competition, held at the Windhoek Agricultural and Industrial Show, is a collaboration between Bank Windhoek and Feedmaster.
In its fifth year, the project teaches students in grades 9-11 the skills and information needed to feed and judge stud animals on farms and in show rings, concentrating on the Simbrah and Simmentaler cattle breeds.
Braunvieh cattle breeds were included in the competition this year.
Project leader Christo van Zyl stated that 80 students from various schools nationwide had enrolled to compete in this year’s competition.
