… opposition parties losing steam

RALLY for Democracy and Progress (RDP) president Mike Kavekotora has conceded that his party may find it difficult to field candidates in the upcoming regional and local authority elections slated for November owing to the huge financial void induced by failing to win seats in Parliament.

Once a formidable opposition party, RDP tumbled from eight seats in the National Assembly in 2009 to just one in the most recent elections.

This meant loss of substantive revenue provided for by government under the political party funding allocation in the budget.
