We have a healthrot – Venaani

…bring the evidence forward, Health Minister tells Venaani
• BY Erasmus Shalihaxwe
POPULAR Democratic Movement (PDM) leader, McHenry Venaani has accused 32 government employed medical doctors of neglecting their duties at State Hospitals and spending more time at their private practices.
Venani said these medical practitioners are getting paid by government for doing nothing.
Venaani raised various social issues the country is facing which includes housing, education and the controversial N$ 650 million health tender which has caused a public outcry recently.
He said there is a “healthrot” in the country and it’s up to the President stop government from spending large amounts of money as well as Health Minister, Dr Kalumbi Shangula to order specialist doctors to give more time to state patients or stick with their private practices.
“They are earning free salaries from the State. They are running big practices outside.

We know their names. We are calling on government to stop this healthrot where key specialists are on full time salaries at the same time are running private practices.

They spent 90 percent of their time at private practices while junior doctors are left to fend for patients,” he explained.
