THE 70th anniversary of the Windhoek Karneval (WIKA), scheduled for April 4-14, promises nothing short of an extravaganza, with a breathtaking sequence of festivities lined up.

To be held under the theme, ‘Applause, Applause, Full Throttle Ahead,’ captures the atmosphere of celebration and enthusiasm that WIKA has developed throughout its history.

The celebration promises an unforgettable experience, with top-tier acts worldwide.

With performances for groups such as the HSO Band from Eschweiler, Germany, and the chart-topping songs of Party-Schlager sensation Peter Wackel, the festival promises nothing short of heart-rendering music.

Also scheduled for an appearance are the Die Höhner, the iconic Karneval band from Cologne, Germany, who will make their Namibian debut.

Their arrival on Namibian territory is a watershed moment, showcasing WIKA’s international reputation and cultural significance.  WIKA president Holger Mentzel expressed delight in the event, emphasising the organisation’s dedication to promoting Windhoek’s beauty and Namibia’s diversity.
