Ya Ndakolo to resign from National Assembly

By Eliaser Ndeyanale

NEWLY appointed Oshikoto Governor Penda ya Ndakolo confirmed in a brief interview with Confidente on Wednesday that he intends to resign from the National Assembly following his appointment as governor this week.

Ya Ndakolo, who served as minister of defence from March 2015 until March this year, was appointed as regional governor by President Hage Geingob on Tuesday. He has replaced Henock Kankoshi, who previously took over the job from ya Ndakolo after the latter was appointed as minister.

Ya Ndakolo will be the third former minister to resign from the National Assembly this month following the resignations of former minister of information and communication technology Stanley Simataa and his counterpart at the Ministry of Agriculture, Water and Forestry Alpheus !

Naruseb, who resigned last month.

“I will have to resign because of the assignment,” he said.

This would be the second stint by ya Ndakolo as Oshikoto regional governor. He will be replaced in Parliament by former Gobabis councillor Philip Katamelo, who last year resigned from his post at the municipality to take up a parliamentary seat, but initially failed to make the cut.

Kankoshi told Confidente on Tuesday that he was not aware that he had been axed from the position he served in for five years.
