Yeezir, Ms Gideon and DJ Castro recently blew Swakopmund away with energetic and serenading performances during the SWAiTEX Live Show at the Vineta Sports Stadium. As the Swakopmund rain started to drizzle, Yeezir and Ms Gideon left the audience in awe with their hit “Pretty Vibes” as they sang along.
The song has enjoyed continuous airplay on all popular radio stations, and its music video has over 1.9 million views on YouTube. It was Yeezir’s first time to perform in front of a Swakopmund audience, who, both young and old, gathered from different areas of the coastal town to collect timeless memories under the stars.
Yeezir was thrilled with the response he received from the audience, who were approximately 800 in attendance. “It has been a vibe. I always wanted to perform here because I get a lot of love from Swakopmund’s people on social media. It was an exceptional crowd for me,” he said.
Other songs include “Ila Apa” (‘come here’ in Oshiwambo), “Body Do”, and his collaboration with Max Junior and Chakie titled “Johnny”. The charismatic performer hailed the show organisers for putting up a live show. “It (the show) looks quite big, and I loved the sound. I loved the energy, and on my part, I would say it was successful,” said Yeezir during an interview. He promised his fans more hits.
Ms Gideon performed her popular hits like “For My Girls”, “Petrus”, and “Yehovah.” The latter was voted the Fresh FM 2023 Song of the Year, with “Yehovah” getting 1.1 million views on YouTube for its visualizer video. Ms Gideon encouraged young and upcoming artists to follow their dreams. “If you want to become an artist just do it. You must start somewhere and with time you will get there,” she said.
She also promised her fans that she would release newer singles in the next few months. Before Yeezir and Ms Gideon took to the stage, DJ Castro warmed it up with his energetic presence. The crowd would not dare sit down as his dance moves and vibrant stage presence got the crowd wanting more.
Some of the local artists who took to the stage and delivered stellar performances include a group known as Honde met Vuil Manniere, 1Dawn, Smart Boy, Banana Gang, Yung Kavin and two-time Namibia Annual Music Award-winning artist – Gerry Dread.
