Former soccer boss donates to Waldfrieden Primary School

Walvis Bay businessman Johnny Johnson Doeseb and his family, through their company Swarie Investment CC, have donated N$100,000 to Waldfrieden Primary School.
Doëseb is former chairman of now-defunct Namibia Premier League and also former owner of Walvis Bay-based Eleven Arrows football club.
He told Confidente that education plays a crucial role in shaping the future of the communities and his family strongly believes in supporting initiative that empower young learners. “Waldfrieden Primary School has been doing commendable work, providing education despite various challenges. Our donation is a way to contribute to the development of the school and ensure that students have access to better resources for learning,” he added.
Doëseb explained that this was not their first contribution to education. In 2014, they awarded the top 10 grade 12 achievers in the Erongo region with N$10,000 each for their hard work and payments made towards their hard work and payments made towards their tuition and registration fees.
He added: “We hope this donation will inspire others in the community to support education in any way they can. Quality education is a shared responsibility, and every contribution, big or small makes a difference”.
The Doëseb’s donation will cover learners’ school fees to ensure that financial constraints do not hinder their education.
Located 17 kilometres from Omaruru, Waldfrieden Primary School, part of the Roman Catholic Mission School network, is renowned for its academic achievements.
Home to over 400 learners, it is the second-best performing school in the Omaruru Circuit but like many rural schools, it faces financial challenges.
Acting school principal Alfons Kairi expressed his deep gratitude to Confidente, emphasizing the donation's direct impact on learners, teachers, and the entire school. “Parents will be relieved of the financial burden of educational expenses, allowing our learners to focus solely on their studies,” he said.
The donation also offers much-needed relief for teachers. With less strain on the school’s limited resources, educators can dedicate their full attention to curriculum delivery and achieving academic excellence. Kairi added that a portion of the funds will be used to purchase essential learning materials, ensuring students have the tools they need to succeed.
Beyond academics, the school will use the funds to enhance extracurricular programs, including spelling bees, debate clubs, science fairs, cultural activities, and educational excursions. Kairi also shared ambitious plans to establish a mini science laboratory, providing learners with hands-on experience in scientific experiments and fostering critical thinking skills.
Doëseb and his family's generosity has deeply impressed the school staff. Teachers are proud to work at a school that has garnered private-sector support, demonstrating a shared commitment to education.
“This donation is significant not just for Waldfrieden Primary School but for the entire Omaruru community,” Kairi noted. “It is the first of its kind for our school, and the learners feel encouraged and empowered to strive for excellence.”
