NEFF healing from deregistration wounds

The Namibia Economic Freedom Fighters (NEFF) is still nursing deep political wounds after it was deregistered by the Electoral Commission of Namibia (ECN), a move the party says left lasting damage ahead of the 2024 national elections.
Although the ECN has since reinstated NEFF and government compensatws them, the party’s deputy leader and member of parliament, Kalimbo Iipumbu on Monday said the damage to their political trust and momentum cannot be undone.

Kambatuku accused of double-dipping

The national coordinator of the Namibian Schools Sport Union (NSSU), Roger Kambatuku, has come under fire from peers in the sector, for allegedly receiving two salaries from the government.  This, is it claimed, is being carried out in absence of the required approval from the prime minister on recommendation of the public service commission.

A Windhoek father stand accused of duping his biological daughter into debt, after he conspired with an employee of the First National Bank (FNB) of Namibia to open a business account for the girl, after which he withdrew an overdraft amounting to N$10,000.

His story is of resilience, hard work, and raw, self-taught talent, which began in the face of hardship. Coming from a humble background, Alfeus Haita Hausiku, originally from Mupini Village in the Kavango West Region, recalls growing up in a family where hard work was the only option. 

Housing on Swakopmund, Erongo RED radar

The Swakopmund municipality and the electricity distributor, Erongo RED have agreed to co-fund residential development project at the coastal town’s Extension 32, Kramersdorf area, The municipality’s spokesperson Linda Mupupa indicated that this agreement marks a major milestone in the provision of much-needed serviced land for housing. She reaffirmed the council’s commitment to urban expansion and sustainable development.

WHEN you talk of women football now, there is always one name one cannot leave out and that is the name Nancy Lebang of V -Power Angels Ladies in the FNB Women Super League (WSL). She was crowned the top scorer of the 2025 Council of Southern African Football Associations (COSAFA) Cup Girls Championship   that was held in Windhoek, recently. 

Aged 15, Lebang made history for Namibia by becoming the first player to score seven goals in one match, when she scored them against Comoros in that championship. 

Seidler flirts with academy

Namibia’s two-time Olympian, Phillip Seidler said that he aspires to establish his own academy to develop elite athletes in Erongo region.   Speaking to Confidente this week, the open water sensation popularly known as the ‘human shark’, stated that starting the academy would enable him to plough back into his community.

Arysteg/Simonis Storm NTTA attracts 79 young players

A total of 79 young table tennis players converged on the Wanderers Sports Hall in Pioneers Park in Windhoek over the weekend to compete in the third tournament of the Arysteq / Simonis Storm Schools Tournament Series 2025. The tournament comprised of 27 junior girls and 52 junior boys, representing a 35 percent participation rate for junior girls, aligning with international guidelines to increase female participation in the sport.
