Mauritius’ strong showing demonstrates that effective governance, clear regulatory frameworks, and targeted digital investments can significantly strengthen national fraud resilience.
Mauritius has been ranked as Africa’s most fraud-resilient country in the 2025 Global Fraud Index released by Sumsub, underscoring the island nation’s growing strength in combating digital crime and building a secure online environment. The report placed Mauritius 22nd globally with a fraud-risk score of 1.8, the best performance across the continent and well below the global average of 2.79.

Takarive is settlement in Botswana near Mahalapye. Originally this settlement was donated by the Bamangwato chieftainship for settling Chief Samuel Katjiikumbua Maharero’s people. Thus, several clans who fled Namibia with Samuel Maharero including those of Riarua,  Ombongora, Tjivasera, Toromba,  Mireti, Kaposambo and many others have settled there. It is said that many of the Genocide survivors were laid to rest at this settlement at what could be regarded as Heroes graves considering the fact that many of them were veterans of the war.

The Namibia Tourism Board (NTB) said the accolade recognises Namibia’s growing visibility, innovative communication strategies, and successful engagement with the Chinese travel market through digital platforms.
According to the NTB, the MITD Awards honour global destinations that demonstrate outstanding performance and innovation in engaging the Chinese tourism market. The awards are recognised as the first international cultural and tourism accolades based on Chinese market demand and the multi-dimensional competitiveness of destinations.
